Graduation Day, May 20th

Graduation Day was a very eventful day. It started out pretty good, although hectic. The morning began with about ten family members meeting at our small, but cute, house. Everyone loaded up and headed to the Weede Gym, where graduation would take place. As everyone was waiting for graduation to start, the kids began to get restless. Then, an "unnamed person" (we still love you!) knocked over Riahna's thankfully empty carseat, scaring everyone. At that point, the adults in the group decided that a 2-hour-long commencement ceremony wasn't the place for 3 rowdy little kids. So, Jill and Jerry took the kids back to our house to play. When they were here, Raven was able to interest Parker and Dalton in fuzz and a popsicle. While all the adults, except Jill and Jerry, were suffering through graduation that couldn't have been any hotter had it been held in hell, the kids were having a blast!

Back at the gym, graduation was still dragging on... After the mile-long processional, national anthem, school anthem, introduction of the president, president speech, regent's speech, 2 student speeches, they started finally calling names of the graduates. Since I was only getting my Bachelor's, and because I was in the College of Technology, I was closer to the end than the beginning! I had a good seat, so I didn't care... Although my family had to sit for an hour and a half through boring speeches and names they didn't know to hear my name and watch me walk across the stage.

After graduation was finally over, everyone started to head to the Comfort Inn for mine and Cody's reception, which turned into a (pleasant) fiasco. First of all, Summer sent Jill, Jerry, and Raven to get the cakes for the reception. The problem with that was the cakes were at Ron's and she sent them to Dillon's to pick them up, which is at the other end of town. After they made their way to Ron's, they started heading to the Comfort Inn. As they were heading to the Comfort Inn, we (Summer, Riahna, and Lucas) arrived at the hotel. When we started unloading, we noticed a different "unnamed person" forgot to bring Riahna's diaper bag. So, Summer headed back to our house to get the diaper bag. Then, just as Jill, Jerry, and Raven were close to arriving at the hotel, Summer called Jill to make sure they didn't forget the punch jar. Again, we ran into another problem. The "party planner" asked Jill, about a month earlier, to bring the punch jar. The "party planner" then forgot to remind Jill to bring the jar. As a result, Jill, Jerry, and Raven had to turn around and head to Jill's house to get the jar. By this time, everyone else had arrived at the hotel, eagerly awaiting Jill, Jerry, and Raven. AFTER they arrived, the reception went off without a hitch. Everyone had subs and cake for lunch. We all just hung out and enjoyed the company of family (Summer's/Cody's and Lucas') and celebrated mine and Cody's graduations.

Overall, the day was a success, but that evening, we weren't too sad to see everyone go!!!
